Dozens of fishers flock to the Market Square to peddle their wares straight from the fishing boats or sales huts from 7 am–7 pm from Sunday to Friday, 7–12 October, and from 7 am–3 pm on Saturday, 13 October.

Helsinki City Museum

The Olden times market independent workshop
The Helsinki Baltic Herring Market has a long and renowned history, and the Helsinki City Museum has images of the market dating back as far as one hundred years. During the market, an independent workshop for exploring, colouring and customising old photographs from the Baltic Herring Market is set up in the Children’s Town snack room.

The Old Market Hall

The Old Market Hall has also caught the market fever; come and taste chocolate herring and potatoes as well as islander bread, and see demonstrations of fish handling skills and expertise. The oyster bistro will be focusing on Baltic herring.

Traditional sailing boats Olga, Vivan, Albanus, Joanna Saturna and Valborg: Islander-style delicacies and tales of sailing on the traditional sailing boats

The sauna caravan Rentola is heating up on the Market Square.
